Yes. Another sand thread. :)

I was hoping to buy QUIKRETE® All-Purpose Sand (No. 1152) as shown in this thread. Unfortunately, I cannot get it here in Tampa. I still need to check Lowe's, but it's not looking good. Even the Quikrete website shows the white bag.

In my search for sand, I found a local supplier of Estes black sand. They have various types. Is PermaColor Quartz S-Grade what I want?

Estes PermaColor doesn't come in an S-grade, at least according to their website and the bags I've seen at a distributor.

I am using the Estes PermaColor Trowel-Rite grade which is 20-40 mesh. I really like the grain size of this product. It is a bit heavier than the 3M Colorquartz S-grade & the Spectraquartz F-grade.

I also tried the Estes PermaColor Broadcast Medium which is 30-50 mesh and is much finer than either of the 2 products above.

Is there any chance your local supplier will have samples of the sand or at least let you look at the different grades of the Estes PermaColor?

I've always had better luck finding the quikrete sand at home depot....every Lowe's that I've been to didn't have it.

Thanks for the correction. I was looking at the wrong data sheet. I found the correct one and it comes in Broadcast medium, Trowel-Rite, and Super Trowel-Rite. I will see if they have samples, but will probably go with the middle of the road Trowel-Rite like you are using.
