90% of the time my dats hide in there little caves, what size do they need to be so they won't hide constantly? I have 2 IT, and 1 AT

How long have you had them?
What's your set up look like, i.e. driftwood, rocks, plants, etc?
What and how often are they eating?

Posting a picture of your tank would help too.

I have had them for about 2 months I feed them once to twice a day they are currently eating only live feeders and spirulina brine shrimp going to try and convert them to massivore pellets later this week.

They are most likely going to use the hiding places as long as you have any in the tank,no matter the size or age.I would remove everything except a few plants and they should eventually begin to swim around...They are lurkers in the wild.

will removing all hideouts not stress them out too much though?

im thinking along the lines of to much stress making them more likely to get disease/illness etc

Krich is correct . Remove all caves and hidey holes.
Plants are fantastic for tigers as the can lurk amongst them and you can still see them.
Vallis or giant vallis works the best in my experience.

Just like other members are saying-remove everything they can hide in or behind. Get a few tall plastic plants with small n thin features

Thanks Ade,I have a NTT and a NGT growing out in a fifty five gallon tank. There are only small, fist sized pieces of driftwood scattered about. The dats keep behind the wood most of the time but they come out to show off occsionally.
