You know how kids walk around the grocery or toy store and point to a hundred and one things they want to buy?

Well, there are some parents who just give them everything they want.

These kids then grow up and do not possess the emotional quotient and end up buying a Stingray just because they want to...

RFS translated: It might just die on me, poor ray.

This is a perfect example of why - A Private Aquarist Should NEVER Buy A Shark or Ray On Impulse.

It always ends badly for the shark or ray in question.

Absolutely agreed. It's basically filling an an impulse "need" and disregarding the common sense of not being able to house the creature properly.

You know the experiment where 1 marshmallow was left on a plate in front of the kid and the adult left but said that if they didn't touch the marshmallow by the time he got back that the kid will get 2. Lots of kids just went ahead and ate it anyway.

It's basically like that for some adults who refuse to grow up--with every "need" needing to be met immediately!

By the way, is my thread vague on the fact that I am NOT the owner of the ray?

Reading Back, it was. however, the last line "It just might die on me" tells us otherwise. However, if you do know the guy who bought the ray and wasted his money on killing it, give him a good slap for us.

There does appear to be a much larger tank immediately to the left - possibly it's just in acclimation/quarantine (obviously too small for that purpose, but it might be for only a few hours)... Just playing devil's advocate.

I hate to see fish abused like this. Thats why I get annual passes to sea world, so I can see things like that in a good enviroment. Now that Im moving to NC Im anxious to check out the aquariums there.

you cant really tell from the picture if its THAT big of a tank (the one next to the ridiculously small tank that ray is in.)

His reason for selling is stated in the vernacular, thus I translated it in my first post.

If he was responsible or sophisticated enough to QT, I really doubt he'll be trying to dispose of it because it was "dying".
