i have 6 and i know nothing about them except they like acidic soft water, i need info plz

I added a few pieces of natural driftwood to my tank and it has increased the acidity. The wood leached into the water and turned it a natural color simular to what they would have in the wild and it seemed to calm them down a bit.

As for the soft water. I have a water softener in my home so..sorry I don't have a good answer on that.

Food wise mine do fine on flakes and frozen foods such as blood worms and brine shrimp. They pick at the sinking algae wafers I throw in for the other fish as well.

I've had them for about 1 year now and they have turned out to be very active agressive feeders that tend to follow me around the room looking for a handout.
I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have enjoyed mine.

Are your peruvians wild caught? If so, they'll like a soft, acidic water.

@WestTex, home water softeners do not add too much benefit to fish, because instead of calcium and magnesium, which cause hardness, they add a ton of sodium instead. So the fish dont really feel the benefits of the artificially softened water.
