State of chaos
I might need a rare fish guy like Oddball or Fugupuff for this one, but, uh, I saw one at Shark Aquarium on Saturday, and I am intrigued. No, it's not a Hogchoker, it really looked like a true Amazonian Flatfish. I've heard that Flatfish are hell to feed, and if that's the case, I don't have the resrources or the skill to care for one... What about you guys?

I've only had hogchokers, and passed on the only chance to acquire some of these 5 or 6 years ago...I'd give it a shot. As long as they have a substrate they are comfortable with, just start off on foods they will be more likely to eat (live or some frozen/fresh). my understanding is that if the specimens handled the travel/acclimation you have a shot at a pretty neat fish

Hmm. The tank has a Ctenopoma, a Clown Pleco, a Flying Fox, and I will get a Flash Pleco on the day I will be there next... are those good tankmates?

i heard they only eat live blackworm o.O never tried it, and dont have one though ^^;; but they sure r neat fish

The Peruvian Flounder (Etropus peruvianus) will eat more than just blackworm. Anything moving is prey to these pounce predators. I fed mine on worms, gammarus, live brine, ghost shrimp, baby crayfish, insect larvae, and live fish fry.
This flounder ranges from Yucatan peninsula down to southern Peru so, it will tolerate a pretty broad range of temp. and pH. I kept mine at a light brackish with a high pH of 7.8-8.0. Mine was getting thin so, it was moved to its own tank where it wouldn't have to compete for food against faster feeders. It bulked up fairly quickly.
The max size is listed at 4". Mine was nearly 6" upon arrival.

If you're looking for a larger FW flounder then, look no further than the USA. You can legally fish the Sacramento drainage zone for starry flounders. These will grow to a foot.

Well the price tag is too high :(
Me and my parents decided that $80 is a lot to invest in a fish at my level in the hobby (beginner lol) well actually, they did, and I dont have 80 bucks. So I'll just keep an eye out for Hogchokers :D
