something has been eatting all my koi in my pond and im guessing its raccoons i had it running for over a year before i start having this problem. right now i have nothing in the pond i dont know what i should do? either rebuild it and make it deeper, put netting over it, or try to catch the raccoon. what do you guys think is the best thing to do?

First off, sorry for your loss, It's never a good experience. How deep is your pond now? I highly doubt that it's a raccoon that's eating all of your fish. How big were your koi and how many were there?
The list of culprits would be short and start with a heron of some type because they would be able to clean out a pond in short order. Pond netting would be your best first line of defense and I would put some koi castles in there so any new koi would be able to escape from the predators.

the deepest is 2 feet the last 3 i put in were med size fish and all were gone in about a week or so. but something is knocking in the flagstone around my pond into it and trashing my plants but i never seen herons around. but i seen raccoons coming around the front of my house a few years back eatting some fruit off a tree in my front yard.

Herons are very sneaky birds and if they know your schedule they will adapt when they visit a feeding site so that you won't see them. How big is a medium size koi, ie inches? The plant thrashing makes me think heron. With a pond that shallow I would put some type of hiding spot for your koi so they can get away from predators.

my last pond was 1200 gallons and only 2ft deep. i used river rock liek 5-8 inches around the outside like i have mine now. this way theres a dome edge around the entire pond. makes it very difficult for predators to get to the water level. especially ones with weight.

also try netting the pond. a lot of the time racoons will get caught in it. then just remove them from the area. also a heron statue will keep other heron away as they are very territorial

id put my money on raccoons, herons are pretty graceful creatures when it comes to fishing i think. As opposed to raccoons which are definetly not. They will be the ones knocking over your rock and tearing up plants. I put a little electric fence around my pond. Very low key fence, looks pretty good actually, on a motion detector with a little blue light that turns on when its on, check out my pond album, ive got pics from when i just installed it, take into consideration it looks 50 times better now plants have grown in around it and stuff.
