So my tank has snails, the little type that got there some how,
i dont feed live food so i guess they got there with one of my fish,

but any way you never really see them in the tank but there in my filters

every time i clean my ac's sponges theirs hundreds in there

i broke down my canister tonight there too.

oh the link to my setup is in my signature

so i was wondering if i should get rid of them, i guess with cooper or something

is there any benefit to having them ?

are they doing harm to my tank besides pissing me off

and if so how do i get rid of them

so im looking for a little advice

thanks in advance !:D

oh and i have two loaches ( i know cooper is not good for them)

1. Manual removal.
2. Lettuce baiting.
3. Assassin snails assuming you don't have fish that eat snails. What fish do you have?
4. Cut back on feeding and do more vacuuming and water changes.

Inadvisable methods:
1. Fish. Getting a fish just to eliminate snails is poor excuse.
2. Copper. Chelated or unchelated, high concentrations of copper can kill not only the snails but your future invertebrates and even fish.

Snails will not harm anything. The only trouble is they're unsightly in large numbers.

Small traces of copper will remain in the tank and can be leached even from silicon sealant, etc. Besides, a massive killing of snails can result in destructive results particularly large ammonia spikes which can also kill your fish in the process.

So I guess my only real choice is to try the lettuce or live with them

bait them and buy a couple puffers. spotted ones do better in genral and grow more large. theyll eat the snaiils when they on teh b8.

Well I hear if you have loaches, you will have no snails. I can't say for sure tho, I have horrible luck with loaches but welcome snails. I just put snails in my shrimp tank. :D

yup, baiting them is a good way to get rid of them

potato on a stick is by far the best way to remove them.. dont feed for a day or two then drop the potato in before bed and then remove in the morning.. then put a fresh piece in the same spot and pull it out after work... repeat as needed and side effects... fyi potato will turn to mush after about 24 hours.. it will look fine but when touched it will melt..
there are products that kill them but im nt a fan of dumping chemicals in my tanks
