Before I could reflect on this sad state, I want to say, "Fraud is the daughter of greed". Sherri's Pet Emporium in Belton, Missouri was scammed on all her inventory. A company offered to liquidate her supplies at cost. In return they required 30% of the total profits. They came in to her store, loaded a truck, and disappeared. It is difficult to keep a pet store opened but Sherri would never give people a deal. I once offered to buy 10 items in order to get this one filter at a reasonable price. She said "NO". Every contact with her was always! about the sell. Had she shown the same love and attention she gave her animals to her customers she still be in bussness today.

Impressive on the scammers end, I'm assuming she didn't do more than surface level looking into their history if at all?

Wait,so are you saying that because Sherri was a hardliner who didn't cut any deals or discounts for her customers one of them is responsible for her being ripped off and her business ruined?

Devil's advocate: possibly insurance fraud by Sherri herself.

Just a thought

While I agree scammers suck and should all rot, if you are going to hand over all your inventory (especially as a business owner), you’d think she would have done her background checks before doing so...

Overall, I think there is more to this story we’re not hearing about, so can’t pass judgement without knowing the finer details in the story...

I think there's more to this story too. If not then the scammers must have balls of steel to just roll up and load everything into a truck and drive off laughing. Possibly insurance fraud and then sell all the goods out of someone's garage for cash and get paid by insurance and also get paid for the goods too.
Shouldn't speculate really as I don't know the full story but it sounds dodgy in every possible way.
My old neighbour who was a junkie always used to say to me, after he'd pulled off some weird and lucrative scam and I asked him how he always got away with it "It's their always greed, you can't ever scam an honest man"

"It's their always greed, you can't ever scam an honest man" I love that qoute. I think she had difficulty with the stiff competition and in turn she lost touch with the customer. Keeping fish alive isn't rocket science but it does have its difficulties. There's something to be said about good customer service when purchasing any fish or aquatic supplies. FOX 4 paid her a visit she is waiting to see what her Insurance company has to say about her new claim. I could imagine her loading her most expensive items to the scammers uhaul. Thinking" Gee whiz glad i didnt sell that"

Did she not write down the plate number of the truck when they came to get the goods? It is very easy to locate where the truck goes if she has the number.

Who in their right mind and have been around for a few years in retail or not would allow this? It's either the dumbest person in retail or an insurance scam that wont work. When she tell the insurance company what happened they are going to say "you just let them take your stuff without some form of payment.....denied!"
