Petco carbon with zeolite bad?

I usually use marineland activated carbon but they were out and went with this. 12 hours tank still stinks. Anybody have experience with this stuff?

There really is no reason to use carbon with adequate filtration. Most people I know only use it if there is a chemical contamination or to remove meds. Zeolite is supposed to remove ammonia, but I don't know how effective it is.
