Petco festae....

I went to a local petco here in vegas and saw for the first time a tank labeled rrd terror, they only had one in there about 3" but it was absolutely 100% without a doubt mayan. What the hell is that about?

Mayans are extremely common compared to festae so stores try and make a quick buck by trying to sell you a common fish as a rare one. In my area every lfs does that. Thats why I always have to pay outrageous shipping prices to get festaes.

Uros are often labeled as red terrors. That's the problem with common names on fish, they are very much up to the interpretation of the seller, or more likely, that's how the whole seller labeled them.

Dan, I'd agree with you that uros were common a few years ago, but you hardly see them around these days. I think they are very under appreciated in the hobby simply because they are confused with festae. They are cool fish in their own right. You don't often see adults around.
