Hello, i was wondering if anyone nows what species of tadpole they are selling in petco. I have been eager to obtain some but i would like to know what they are before i purchase any. Because i would like to throw some into my pond. Thank you and all info is greatly appreciated.

They are most likely Green frog tadpoles Rana clamitans. It is a medium sized species of frog that doesn't have the predatory nature of a Bull Frog, which will eat other frogs, fish, small turtles, etc...

well its petco. cant ask for much more, they did manage to keep them alive

Normally they are green frogs - Rana clamitans

ALL frogs have a predatory nature. They just don't get as big as the bullfrog, but they WILL eat anything that fits into their mouth, much as almost every frog will.

Yes I'm aware of this. These guys are bullfrogs in a smaller version. But green frogs can't take sparrows and mice!

They do take mice :) But sparrows -not quite :) They're cute frogs though.

And , as you can see - they are quite variable in coloration.

A second common species sold as tadpoles is the Leopard frog.
