jeez, when will they learn?

Wow! How contradictory indeed. Did you point out this problem to the manager?

i mentioned it to my local petco certified fish expert and he told me that those are serious cards that he recomends to any aqaurist and that he is a profesional holding in a laugh i then told him that there was dog poop on the floor of the fish food isle

well actually it says 10+, which means you can start out with a small tank when there still small. just my opinion though.

I would agree also, does the OP believe that a 4" pleco need be placed in a 200g tank?

Common sense need be applied.

It's amazing the people on this forum that both bash and shop at such stores:wall:

as long as the adult size is near accurate, I'm forgiving of some of the tank size suggestions, since a reasonable person could tell that a 12" fish can't go in a 10 gallon

The card should mention that a 10-20 gallon would be temprary. At least it gives a reasonably close adult size. I've seen those cards for pacus that say "adult size to 12in".

Absolutely not. Reasonable is not something you don't come across often with noobs or just straight up ignorant people when dealing with fish. The majority of people buying common plecs at petco when i worked there were also buying there 10 gallon starter kit and an assortment of tetras/mollies etc. Given the fish did survive and outgrew the tank, most of these people would get mad at me for telling then they need to spend $10 on a heater. The last thing they are going to do is upgrade. As the care and livelihood of their animals is supposed to cater to their personal wallet. :wall:
