petco?

I was killing some time at petco yesterday and noticed they have 4-5 Sengals(sp?)

I don't know much about these and was surprised to see them at petco of all places. My local petsmart and petco are not good for much other than dry goods and supplies. Buying fish there is like Russian roulette with a semiauto. You always lose.


They also had some Pacus which i was less supriesed to see but still found interesting.

Just how available are Sengals that petco would have them? I've kinda gotten used to the fact that 90% of the "common" things seen on MFK are all but uncommon at anything other then an EXCELLENT lfs or privet breeder.

Senegals are a pretty common/popular fish. The other polypterus species are not.

Selling pacus is just downright irresponsible.

Ah. I thought most of the poly family was a bit harder to come by then petco. Now I know.

other than sen, you may also find albino sen which is also quiet common from time to time. They are a good start for bichirs keeper.

The petco I go to in NYC has all sorts of cool stuff. The fish aren't the healthiest, but they have a large selection of corals and some cool fish too such as celestial pearl danios.

all my lfs sells pacus as in petco and petsmarts haves signs of the fish..
"pacu gets 8" or get 12" ........what it dosnt say is how big is ther max size lol
