hi,my lfs has some tank bred petricola's.would they be any good for the clean up crew for my bichir tank.i have a 5 inch hoplo at the moment but hes so greedy he eats as much of the bichirs food and severums food as possible.hes so fat,hes going to burst.

if not,any other suggestions.i dont want something that gets too big,but its gotta get big enough not to be eaten by the senegal, palmas poli, delhezi.

i know the are supposed to be bottom fish for a malawi tank, but was wondering if they would be ok.

I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem, i got rid of my 2 syno's recently as I recently installed a moonbeam light to watch my polys and cats in the dark and found my big eupturus was bullying and annoying everything once the light went out so have offloaded them and my tank is much happier. I also found syno's to be quite messy themselves and so i'm not sure how much they'd help in the clean up operation.

I have 2 smaller shovelnoses, a lima and a porthole, and they eat anything the polys don't get and then forage all night long. Depends on your tank size i suppose, lima's and portholes get to 12" or so but i'd highly recommend them with polys.
