Anybody buy a tilapia or other food fish as a pet? I mean, it would need dewormed and rehabbed, but I've seen some SB tilapia and other interesting things at the Asian markets around here that would make neat pets. Eels, etc.

Also, I really want to try keeping a dungeoness crab in my basement. I think it's cold enough. Other sea critters have fared well down there. How hard are dungeoness to keep? Is it legal? Are they poopers?

If it's legal to sell to eat it's legal to keep. Maybe not for snakeheads LOL

.......are they poopers?

I used to keep some tilapia since they're in the waterways here. I need to find an asian market around here, I wouldn't see a problem with keeping them, obviously quarantine them but I hear theres some cool fish at the markets, only thing they may be pricier being sold per pound than at an lfs.

Yeah, most of the Asian markets here sell the live fish by weight.I have purchased a striped bass before as well as stone fish and canada crab.

LOL asain markets are the number one pet stores!! I can just imagine you guys in an actual markets in asia!!

One place even had a tank full of baramundi and man was I tempted to rescue one.
