Just guilted the local PetSmart into giving me this guy for free.
Looks like he was picked on quite a bit. He was in the tank with an African cichlid.

Rear fin is almost gone. top one is chewed up

I know all the basics but looking for the best ways to nurse him back to health Beyond perfect water parameters and diet

Add about 1 tablespoon of aquarium salt per 5 gallons to prevent bacterial growth and help with regulatory osmosis. If you can easily get Seachem Paraguard, I would daily dose the tank for 2-3 weeks to prevent bacterial infection or fungus growth. The temperature of the tank should be no higher than 75F to prevent columnaris. Daily water changes should be done.

If you cant get Seachem paraguard, another good alternative with the salt is methylene blue. It stains so be careful when using it. I would use it for about 2 weeks as well with the salt. You can't keep a cycle going so daily water changes is a must, plus you should not dose MB until the water conditioner has been in the tank for about an hour after a water change. Water conditioners can render MB ineffective.
