Hi all,

First off, I am not a chain petstore hater, but do most of my fish purchase from LFS's.

I found it a bit awkward when I was approached by a petsmart employee when I was buying plant bunches with questions on my plated setup(s). I was nearly denyed the sale of these different plant bunchs admitting that my setup(s) were not designed to promote plant growth! I have only EXTREMELY recently made my first attemp (Actually two tanks) to have a truely planted aquarium.

To date, I have occasionally burried the bottom of the plant bunch into the subtrate, but have found it more to my likeing to allow them to float on the top often sending roots down into the water column. Many of the species that I keep devoure plants, and I often viewed them as "food". I would remove the leaves as they started to die and decay.

I kind of got agrivated with the store employee and said something along the lines of this quote: "Look, dude, My worst nightmare is to actually have these plants "Grown" in any of my aquarium. They are being placed into the tanks strictly as a food source for some of the omnivorous fish species that I keep as well as surface cover and line of sight blockage to maintain lower tank agression in the fish.

I was than given the plants to take to the counter and pay for. Some petsmart employees MAY encourage a customer to purchase a Pacu to house in a 5G tanks for life. There are also employees at these chain stores that go to the exact opposite extreme. I thought that I was going to have to sign a afidavid that I was a philobotanist and would promise to provide the best possible care for the plants as science allows!

I'm talking the plant "bunches" here and not rooted/ potted plants. :naughty:

lol sounds like that other guy on here a few weeks ago getting in trouble for not advising a sale for certain fish with improper tank size.
