After searching 10 pages for an existing post, I couldn't find one. I'd like this post to be for Petsmart rants only, nothing else, no bickering, just rants. I'd also like no comments or replies, or very limited ones to the posts. Of course that would probably not happen, but let's try to keep it focused, and clean here. So here's one to start.

We were just at Petsmart last night to pick up some Stability for a new tank we're working on and there's a new employee there who's just awful. I felt bad for him, it's not his fault his training was crap, although I still feel you shouldn't be in that department until you actually know stuff too. This couple killed their goldfish and were back to get help, he was looking at notes he had in a little notebook trying to figure out what to tell them. He was saying stuff like, "You have to wait 4-5 days after putting water in the tank so it can cycle before putting fish in the tank." Then he was talking about how the ammonia killed the fish and they needed to use NovAqua to fix the problem and they should buy bottled distilled water because the city water might be bad for the fish. I just about left, but since it's a store out of town and I will never be there again anyhow, I stepped in to help the people out carefully and try to give the new guy a hand. My girl was worse than me though, she tore into the fish department manager who then pulled the new guy away from me to deal with him in the next isle. I didn't know any of that, aside from when she waved him away, until we left the store and my girl told me. The fish manager later came into the conversation I was having with the couple, but she was pretty much just standing there listening to me too, aside from again suggesting bottled water for the fish. I ended up being the one who pointed out the Prime and Stability and explaining how to use them and talking them out of buying 5 new goldfish for a 10 gallon and into trying three platies to start the tank instead. I wish Petsmart would get some people who knew what they were doing at all the stores, and keep them hired too.

I know how you feel man. I called one petsmart to see what size severums they had and they lady asked me if they were a saltwater fish..needless to say i havent been back to petsmart unless i need fish food for a low price.

I went to a Petsmart locally looking for a fish awhile back, they didn't have any. The fish guy there was a friend, and said he would call the other stores for me and ask if any were shipped to them. Cool. So one store all the way across town (30 miles) said they had two. I decided to go. When I got to the store I looked through the tanks, and found the label, but no fish. So I asked the guy where they were. He looks at me and points to the tank. I look again, there are two green terrors in the tank, but no red texas. I ask him again, and he says those are the fish. I gruffly respond with something like, "I drove 30 miles after another store calls up here for red texas because you said you have the fish. These are green terrors, sick green terrors I might add." He looks again and responds, "Ohhh. Yeah they do look like that other picture over there." Pointing at the label for green terrors.

at petsmart over herd a old couple talking to a worker. She said we don't have your filters but these will work just cut the edge off. They needed a top fin she handed them a penguin. She also said you only need to run the filter a couple of hours a day. My buddy who is more knowledgeable then me who works at a chain pet store, pulled the old folks aside and told them to go to the store he works at so they could get the filter they needed.

I had a worker tell me I couldn't keep bettas with live plants because they will eat the roots. I was like thanks for the advice but I'll take my chances.

One of them down here has had at least 3 massive kills that I know of in 8 yrs. They also tried to rip me off with the mislabeled tank trick also.It seems to be their go-to play!A red texas for 26.99 in an unpriced tank-tried to say it was a flowerhorn. What is a red texas anyway?Well,it's not a super red texas. It's not even red!
