After searching 10 pages for an existing post, I couldn't find one. I'd like this post to be for Petsmart rants only, nothing else, no bickering, just rants. I'd also like no comments or replies, or very limited ones to the posts. Of course that would probably not happen, but let's try to keep it focused, and clean here. So here's one to start.
We were just at Petsmart last night to pick up some Stability for a new tank we're working on and there's a new employee there who's just awful. I felt bad for him, it's not his fault his training was crap, although I still feel you shouldn't be in that department until you actually know stuff too. This couple killed their goldfish and were back to get help, he was looking at notes he had in a little notebook trying to figure out what to tell them. He was saying stuff like, "You have to wait 4-5 days after putting water in the tank so it can cycle before putting fish in the tank." Then he was talking about how the ammonia killed the fish and they needed to use NovAqua to fix the problem and they should buy bottled distilled water because the city water might be bad for the fish. I just about left, but since it's a store out of town and I will never be there again anyhow, I stepped in to help the people out carefully and try to give the new guy a hand. My girl was worse than me though, she tore into the fish department manager who then pulled the new guy away from me to deal with him in the next isle. I didn't know any of that, aside from when she waved him away, until we left the store and my girl told me. The fish manager later came into the conversation I was having with the couple, but she was pretty much just standing there listening to me too, aside from again suggesting bottled water for the fish. I ended up being the one who pointed out the Prime and Stability and explaining how to use them and talking them out of buying 5 new goldfish for a 10 gallon and into trying three platies to start the tank instead. I wish Petsmart would get some people who knew what they were doing at all the stores, and keep them hired too.
