Looked at the thread at the top and it was hard to tell because of how small mine is.

Searched around my area at 4-5 different fish suppliers and most didn't have any flowerhorns. Finally went to a petsmart and found this little guy. He stuck out from the rest because of all his "spanglings". The others had dull colors and were bigger. Not to mention this guy was bullying the others. The minute I dropped him in his new home (30g growout) he wouldn't stop moving. Been a few days and he's still as active as can be, and the NLS is starting to grow on him. Initially he spit it out but lately hes been swallowing a few.

So, red texas or some type of flowerhorn? And is it too early to tell the sex without venting?

Too young to sex but definitely a hybrid right now it looks more texas but could end up looking more kamfa as it develops. Either way you got one of the nicest petsmart texas I've seen. Grow it out, I'm really interested in seeing how he progresses.

Thanks! He really stuck out from the rest. I'll try to post monthly updates on here.

U can tell by looking in its eye. If it's a male it's going to have bright red eyes. I'm not sure but a lot of flowerhorn that I see have bright red eye. And also if he grow a kok later on his head. But he still look nice

Not necessarily its if the eyes are red in a male the chances of fertility are good between white eyes, yellow eyes, orange eyes, and red eyes even though blue eyes are not part of this discussion I often wonder about the chances of fertility in a blue eyed flowerhorn

Like I said I'm not 100% sure but so far all of the flowerhorn that I see have red eyes. I don't know about flowerhorn at other places but in my region I think all of them have red eyes. When my friend got his flowerhorn it look like a jack Dempsey/ flowerhorn. It's eyes was little orange reddish but after it grew up its eyes was like pure red. Well I think that is one way to identify them but I'm not sure
