Need an identification on this Petsmart "Red Texas". Pearling makes me think it's a Red Texas, but couldn't tell either way.
Is it a Red Texas or Flowerhorn?

Red Texas are flowerhorn for the most part, this is a kamfa and a good looking kamfa flowerhorn for the age

Both of those statements are inccorect. I believe the fish is Red Texas and not Kamfa.

I agree with Chris, I picked up a "Petsmart" Red Texas that looked like a Kamfa, but my guy turned out to be a really Red Texas that slowly starting to get a vibrant Red Coloration. I'm just hoping that my guy will continue peeling, and only get better!!!

No there not majority of red Texas cichlids in lfs are just Texas crossed to a red flowerhorn strain, although these are not real red Texas cichlids but still that is what's sold as red Texas very frequently, and this has a sliver/blue outline on the black dots along the body a clear indication of a flowerhorn, I've bred a Texas and low quality kamfa flowerhorn together and this is exactly what the majority of the fry come out to look like by 1"-1.5"
