Bought this guy about a month ago. Any thoughts on it? I love him either way and am going to keep him. Just not sure if he's an actual RT or not.

I like him!
feeding mine's red Blaze by CZ Aqua product and brine shrimp and within a few days he started peeling my water temperature 84 to 86 °F
Thanks, I got him at PetsMart about a month ago and want to fade him, but without dirty water. I don't like that idea so much. Thanks for the tip. I'll try it out.

Just an FYI ............. the "texas" part of this strain typically comes from H. carpintis, a species that is found in native water in the 60's (rainy season) and mid to high 70's (dry season). Keeping this fish (including flowerhorn) at higher temps such as 84-86 is a sure fire way to introduce chronic stress to your fish, and allow certain pathogens/bacteria that thrive at those higher temps, to do just that, multiply and thrive. F. columnaris aka duck lips is one such bacteria. 76-78 F is a very comfortable year round temp for red texas. That's the same temp that I raised my FH at as well.
