Rescued a Crested Gecko from Petsmart today. He looks extremely thin, and it looks like the back of his tail is crusting up a little bit. This is the first time I've kept a CG, but I made sure to do my research. How do I go about fattening him up? Also, anyone know what the crust on the end of his tail could be? I took a couple pictures on my blackberry, but the quality is not excellent, to say that least. Thanks in advance for your help.

Anyone have any ideas? He (she?) won't eat the CGD, and I'm not going to give it a steady diet of crickets. I'm aware of meal worms and butter worms, but I'd like to use the CGD.

I would guess the "crust" is old shed. A short soak in some warm (not too warm/hot, and also very shallow-don't want to drown him) water should soften it up and help it come off. Overall, it looks pretty healthy to me

He looks pretty good form what I can see. If he was thin you would see hip bones sticking up on top and rib lines, and his face would be sunken in a bit. Give him a dish with CGD and a few maggots if you can get them. They stay in the dish better and will help train him to know where food is, then you can wean him off the live if you want to. I looked at that food before though, not sure how healthy it really is though.

The Repashy Diet is VERY good for cresteds. take a toothpick and use that to gently dab some of the diet around his mouth and he will lick it off and realize that it is edible. Works every time for the babies in the shop. Yours is a little on the small side but I think it's in decent health. I would not worry too much.
