So after seeing all the posts about flowerhorns being picked up at petsmart I decided to go by ours. My local petsmart doesn't have them and will not get them. They claim they can't and will not get them. This is just more of why I hate chain stores.

They have them at mine they aren't so great you aren't missing out. Some people are sometimes finding the 1 good one. There are many reasons to hate chain stores but I don't think this is the fault of the store they have different distributors in different parts of the country.

Well let me add that my local petco will order fish and so will all the other lfs so that's why I knock them for their policy. Furthermore a store as big as petsmart should be able to get anything within reason. IMO

I had a hard time finding festae around here for months. Finally found some, did a 3 hr round trip to get them from another MFK'er who brought them in from the states. A few days later I visit my local petsmart.. and sure enough they had some..

There's a rule that I live: I'll always want the fish that is not available when I want it and rarely want the fish that is being offered.

I am particular and picky; not the store's fault.

Chain stores are pretty much a lottery. When I go in to look around to burn some time, not expecting anything, I find totally random cool 'contaminant' fish. When I go in hoping to find something interesting that slipped in with a batch of whatever, it's all the regular stock.

I checked our local petsmart. Only thing they had worth buying were some decent small (50-75 gallon) tank/stand combos. ($150 for a 60 gallon). All of my local non chain stores are disgusting and some should be shut down for cruelty. (one local one I walked in and literally had to run out due to smell). There is supposed to be a good one about two hours away but I have to check it out. Fortunately for me there is a local chain called Uncle Bills that has an aquarium enthusiast working there who does not mind sending me to an online retailer and actually giving me good info.

i remember a while back at my Pet Smart, they were selling black sharks really cheaply, I was pleasantly surprised to say the least!

of course it then proceeded to beat up every single cichlid i had, which was a shame
