I walked into Petsmart today to pick up some prime and was walking past the fish like I always do to see if they had any out of place fish. I spot these 3 lil spotted guys and looked closer and realized they were Tropheus duboisi. I told the guy how much for these lil guys and acted dumb hes like idk what kind they are because they are not on the picture so does $2.99 sound good?

"Heck Yea!!"I said. My main dedicated lfs sells 1.25" for $30 each so one heck of a deal as these are 2"+. Also picked up 6 2.5" clown loaches for $8 each =\. Fish fish ever bought at petsmart so lets see how true your guys stories are on fish quality. I get all my monsters ext. from online stores and my only dedicated lfs and private hobbiests.
 
nice pick up.I do the same as you and often find out of place fish myself that I tend to grab b4 I even know where they are going and usually pull out another tank,which leads to,"where is that extra heater I had"and then it turns into more money and more tanks and heaters and filters and.......ahhhhhhh the love of the hobby:headbang2
 
Dude! I almost had the exact same experience. (which sadly proves how ill informed some of the petsmart people are) the tropheus came into our store as $29.99 so when i went to another store and saw one all by its lonesome they told me it had come in with the feeders (hmm, sounds fishy-but that means $0.12) but when I went to buy it the manager guy came up and told the dude what it was. I almost got a Bushynose pleco for $2.99 cause the guy kept telling me it was a regular. I swear, some people couldnt tell a guppy from a goldfish. Sigh. But Great for your good catch!

Ya most of the time Petsmart get clown loaches that are really small, but every now and then they get them in that size....and keep the same price regarless of the size...I have a friend that works there and once they get them that big again she will call me and I will get as many as I can..I want like 5 of them...

The other store I bought them from sold 2.5" for like 20$
 
I couldn't let up the price for 2.5". They are now happy with my tangs, also from my main lfs picked up 2 yellow calvus and 2 white calvus and a poly for my grow out.
 
I also know someone at Petsmart, and I get phone calls about once a week..."Do you want to come see this fish someone just dropped off?" We go look, but the only thing we've taken was a pleco with a broken tail. That one we felt bad for. Still haven't figured out what he is, but he's doing fine.
