So i went to petsmart to find some gravel for my 150g and i wasn't quite sure what i wanted so i was just looking around. To my surprise i saw some 25lb bags of small pea gravel i think its called sitting above a sign that said 3.99. Now i knew it wasn't 3.99 but i work in retail sales also and knows how these kinds of things work so i grabbed seven bags and left one behind so they could see where i got it from. The cashier rings me up and says 90.93. I'm like sorry but the sign says 3.99 and she then tells me that they are 12.99 and thats the correct price. So i nicely pointed out their policy to them and the manager had a little bit of a fit asking me if i was really thinking that much gravel was 3.99. All in all he told me that he would do it this time but next time he wouldnt let it slide. So i grabbed my 7 bags off the counter and left with 175lbs of pea gravel for 29.93. Sucess against major corporations!!! Thats what they get for keeping their fish in such poor conditions. So all in all the manager lost 9.00 a bag on the sale.

Oh yea as i was walking out he ran over and changed around the rest of the signing seeing they were all wrong.

So next time u guys go to a commecial pet store look at the pricing and point it out to them if its wrong since thats their policy.

I worked at petsmart. There policy is very strict..... get the customer forget the amount we loose. I've gotten Hoods for dirt cheap there.
Also you can price match anything ----- catelogs add shipping -----
If you buy something at petco for more take it back to petsmart and they will refund you for the amount that they sell it at. you'lle get it back in a certificate but hey.... now you have more to play with!!!

Not all of them do keep them in poor conditions.

had a deal like that once at a big als found a massive hunk of driftwood that would sell for about $125.00 had a tag for $29.95 took it to the counter and the teller said it must be priced wrong told her i did'nt make the mistake and they gave it to me for 29.95

lol did it again yesterday could'nt find and tropical fish hobbist mmags so i took the freebie that comes with tank packaages the clerk didnt want to give it to me so i called over the manger and pointed out the free label and said i found it on the rack got it figure its a payback for selling me a sick golden nugget

haha, thats really interesting stories i have read. I wish someone in singapore have any experience to share about getting back at a over price lfs called rainbow at seragoon..

anymore stories to share?

Home depot or lowes or walmart and you coulda gotten the gravel for the same price...

at my petsmart, i was getting some blood worms for my fish and i saw some packaged brine shrimp. i chcked the tag, and $0.40 ?!?!?!? WTF?!?!? . so i got a few and i took em over to the cashier. she said they were $4 each, and i was like, the tag said $0.40 , so the manager guy came over and said he'd check for me, but he was busy with another customer, so he was like, just ring em at $.40.

and i won. :D

they sell gravel at home depot? could i get the nice kordons nature rocks? hahaha

I once got a RTC for $1.63 at PetsMart because the guy working there thought it was an Anaues Cory.

false advertisement is a bI@tch for the store .. you the customer make out if the price is lower then regulary marked.. state law's mandate you get it for the price it is marked ... good for you formulated fire :clap

also if the manager or store owner try to sway you like mentioned by FF tell them the B.B.B mite say other wise... :grinyes:
