cool. i was born in winnipeg, manitoba, canada :D. i might be moving to toronto for school in the next two years. :D

I fit wasn't for MY local Petsmart, I wouldn't have my Poly Sen. In fact you could almost say that they're responsible for my now completeBichir addiction!

^ lol they have senegals for sale haha, along with oscars, blood parrots, etc.

There's nothing wrong with Petsmart fish. Same fish that Petco and other LFS sell. Their variety is a little slim, for us MFK'ers in my opinion. But their mostly devoted to the beginner getting a guppy or a platy or wanting a new cichlid that isn't hard to maintain. Of course this is a little bias...I work there, but I try and tell it how it is.

Some fish get ich and come in dead like any other LFS, we try and quarintine what we can when we see it. I love Petsmart and for a beginner the prices are relatively low and at least some can help with the basic fish questions. I could answer a fish question but if someone asks me what's the main ingredient in Royal Canin Germ Shepherd I have no clue. Same can go the opposite though, so relax if some employees are a little off. Also I'm a lead stocker and deal nothing with the fish besides unloading it off of the truck. :)

Well I guess I'll be the hater on this thread... :grinno: I've had horrible results with them and Petco. No offense to the member who works there. I wish they would require all their employee's to become a member before caring for the fish, it would probably save allot of fish and educate people properly. I refuse to buy from any more big box retailers.

I live 10 minutes from the Wet Spot and Cayes in Portland so that's pretty much the only two places I buy from.

I think almost any LFS besides the big corporation stores are way better than Petsmart. But I don't think it's terrible, but it sucks when people have bad experiences at Petsmart, we lose our repeat customers this way.:(:(

I voted no only b/c the petsmart locations close to me are NOT good locations to get fish or even most supplies from. however, when i lived in other parts of the country and the petsmart near me employed one of my friends that actually cared about fish, it was a cool place to visit. I really think it has a lot to do with who runs the department/store/ and so on up the ladder that affects that store and its make up. I will not say however that every petsmart sucks
