PFS question

I have a bag of pool filter sand that had been sitting outside since summer. It had a small hole in the top of the bag I was planning on using it in my new tank. I put it in a bucket and cleaned it with hot water 3 times, think it will be ok? I didn't spray any pesticides or anything but it has been outside on the edge of my porch for 6 months, think it would be safe or should I just go buy a new bag

It should be safe. In the stores, they just sit on the shelves and who knows what critters poo and pee on those bags.
