pH 7.6-7.8

There is really not enough info in your post. but....
My guess is, if 7.6-7.8 is the normal pH of the LFSs water, and if your pH is drastically different, the fish wouldn't survive the transition.
What is the pH of your water? If because of frequency (or lack thereof) of water changes or some other reason, your water is 6.0 or lower, and there's 7.6-7.8, it would be a losing proposition for them to take your fish.
If your source water is the same as their water, simply you doing water changes would bring your water into equilibrium with there's.
If your source, and tank water is different (for ex high , pH 8.8), changing pH for you would probably not be worth the trouble. You would need to buy a pH lowering agent, which is an acid.
