I recently went to the lfs and bought a few crypt wendii. The plants were kept in the same system as the African cichlids which has a ph of 8.0 according to the employee. When I introduce them into my tank he said they’ll turn brown due to the ph change from 8.0 to 7.0. Is this correct? Does the altered ph cause browning.

Not sure what you mean by brown, but crypts are notorious for melting when moved to a different / new envrionment...
