I have a 120 gallon with a sump and drip system doing 1 gal. and hr. with well water at a ph of 7.6 my tank ph goes from 7.6 to 7.2 seems to drop at night when lights go off. I have discus in tank. Why is ph swinging.

interesting..
well, im not sure why it changes back an forth. do u use RO water? I know that RO water is less stable and prone to change, esp with PH

Do you have plants?

CO2 has a direct relation to pH
Plants use CO2 for photosynthisis
Photosynthisis occurs during daylight
CO2 levels vary the most between lights out and lights on

intreseting. I do know that water should be left 24hrs b4 being added to the tank to settle the PH.

but .4 ph over the course of about 12 hours shouldnt hurt your fish...
but i dont think its good...but deff not bad.
