Sorry in advance for the long post ....
I have two tanks, 125 gallon community tank with cork bark as decor and a 75 gallon RD tank with one piece of driftwood. Both are filled with tap water from the same supply.
I moved my male and female convict into the 75 gallon from the 125 because they are about to breed and i would like to keep the fry this time. They have been there for 24 hours and i noticed the male this morning has small white dots over his body and fins which im guessing is ich. I tested the tanks water from both 125 & 75 and straight away i realised why. The 125 gallon is reading 7.4Ph and the 75 gallon is reading 6.4Ph ! I tested my tap water and thats reading 7.4Ph.
How can two tanks from the same water supply be so far apart ?
Both tanks have been up and running for almost a year now and to be honest i gave up checking water params a few months ago due to them being fine everytime i checked, it seemed like a waste of time so i cant tell you how long the water has been like this as it doesnt seem to have effected the RD.
Also just to add, i tested the Nitrate, Nitrite & Ammonia levels and they are all ok and match each others results.
