Ive just tested my ph and its down at around 6, now its normally at 7 - never moves!....ive added some rocks from a local river in the last few weeks, could this be my problem???

just to add, ive used a solid SILVER butter knife to weigh a large slice of cucumber down, not sure if that has made a difference, it aint the one i normally use.

I doubt that your pH drop was caused by the rocks or the butter knife. When did you last do a water change? The pH of an aquarium will drop as the tank ages.

This.

Any wood?
A heavy bioload?
How are fish acting?

last w/c was thurs - 20% 600ltr tank, fish are acting normal, but lost a clown loach weds and another one looks not himself so thats why i asked incase it could be linked to the ph...

What is the ph at your tap?

Do you feed a lot? As said biomass and organic waste lower the Ph.

i have a peice if bogwood, but its only small in comparison to the tank, my ph is normally kept around 7 using crushed coral. ive always used it and had few problems

Crushed coral is good.

Perhaps it has too much orgamic stuff buried in there. Ever vacuumed the thing?

yeah i vacume as much as i can see each water change, however i have added rocks and thats a known hot spot for crap collection. the thing is im just doing what i normally do, thats why im scratching my head

I also am scratching....
