I just started collecting fish a month ago and I finally found a Pbass Temensis at my LFS. I got it at about 5 in. long for $40. Now I'm wondering what I should do about the Ph for my temensis? I read that fish from the amazon typically like more acidic water. I bought a Ph test kit and I got a Ph of about 7.6-7.4. Should I buy some Ph Down and try to make the PH lower?

Also, I forgot to ask what I should put in the tank to make the pbass happier because right now he/she's with two oscars, a peacock cichlid, and sand. Nothing else. The tank I have is 40 gallon but I'm buying a 100+ gallon soon as I find a good deal.
Okay thanks for the information, thinking about building a pond or own tank but in the future when the tem is a foot long.
I see that you're in Sac. Did you get it from Jojo's? That tem will outgrow your 40 way fast. I use to grow out my pbass in my 20 long until it got to a couple inches and I gave them to my brother in law's 100. Your ph is fine, the tem will thrive, don't worry.

the sand may be keeping your ph high.. add some bogwood (drift wood) or peat.. like mjunior said 5.2 to 6.5 will work. cichla like soft water

Yeah I got it from Jo Jo. I'm going to get a bigger tank by the end of the month. If anyone is willing to sell some 100g+ tanks let me know. I'm about to go to the fish store soon and was wondering what kind of food is good for my temensis. Right now I throw in a feeder and he eats it but it's not a fast reaction only when the feeder is in his way he'll eat it.
