What do you guys think?

All my fish are from the Amazon and I would like the ph to be 7, but so many people say to let the fish get used to my tap water ph. Would it be less stressful for my fish if they were in the correct ph.

The way I do is I have a 60 gallon bucket and put the PH neutralizer and all my other stuff and leave it dissolve all night with 2 small power pumps mixing the water then the next morning put it in the tank.

Who thinks what?

I just use RO, I have nothing to do with PH powder.. It's junk imo..

You are doing the unnecessary activities, Vamp. What you should be looking into is KH and GH, not the pH. If your KH is more than 3, then the pH itself will just stick around the same level but with captive bred specimens, there is no need for you to bother adjusting your water chemistry if your fish are doing just fine. Even then, it will take by as much as 1.0 pH difference to successfully harm and kill your fish and this happens most often with people who have Old Tank Syndrome.

Thanks Lupin, 2 things.
I currently do not use the ph neutralizer anymore, but did in the past. Heard it was just as good to let the fish adjust to my tap ph.

The reason I ask is I tried some FW Barracudas and lost them, I know they are hard to keep but thought if I got my ph that much closer to the Amazon then maybe they would do better.

Also what do you think about black water? I have not heard of KH and GH but will look it up and get the test kit.

There has to be somthing wrong with my water to lose them correct? I really want these Barracuda in my tank, but seem to lose them, my water is in great condition and I have not lost a fish in a long time so I am trying to think of somthing, Thanks for the comments.

Test for KH and GH between your own tapwater and tank water, and your dealer's tank water and tapwater. Figure out the differences and find out how to match the water chemistry closely. KH is carbonate/temporary hardness while GH is general/permanent hardness.
