Hi i have been working on a diy background for awhile and been using some info off existing threads on this site. Thank you to those who have posted steps and progress.

My project is nearing the point im about to start curing with water and im starting to slowly plan substrates. In my larger calvus tank i am using eco complete salt and pepper sand that is doing great for ph and killing ammonia but im thinking of going with regular play sand for the soon to be compressicep tank. i know the comps like the higher ph level and im going to figure the play sand will do jack  for that.

im also figuring that using a small pouch of eco complete in the filter wont do much affect on the ph levels or will it?? if not i thought of a small layer under the play sand so that it is not visible (going for natural look) will that at all affect the ph being buried?? im basically trying to avoid the whole buffering it all the time cause its a pain and costly.

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

OO and if it makes a difference i decided to use Quickcrete instead of Siketop <<<only comes in HUGE buckets in canada $70+ tax i have read that the concrete affects ph. But enough??
