I live in a limestone rich area and i have plenty of limestone that i find and want to put in my tanks. I thought that it really changed the ph when it is put in but on my small cichlid tank the ph is the same as the water i put the limestone in. I really want to put a nice piece in my catfish tank and if its not gonna change my ph then it will be fine, right? Im wondering why its not changing my ph?

My well water is 7.0 ph and my city water is 7.5.

Here is the piece i want in...

Howdy,

If it's a local rock and you use well water, then it doesn't matter - the water will have had more exposure to limestone under ground than it will have in your tank. Tap water might be treated, but a water test for hardness will tell.

Nice rock!

So do you think it will be ok to add to my catfish tank?
