Hi mates, need to ask u some question about PH.
I have a tank 320x120x55cm ( 2100L )
with big sump 450L + big tube Sand filtration from AquaMedic . Ok, nitrification bacteria work fine no problem , but PH drop Down very Fast. . When I finished water change pH is around 6,5pH. After 4 days later PH drop s to around 4,5pH. Rays are fine no problem, they eat well no hiddings without stress. Than I do WC again, about 400L . I have 3 big P14 about 36-40cm , 1 BD 38cm and 2 hybrids 25cm. I am feeding my rays just normal. Still PH drop pretty Fast, dont u think? Or is it normal? What else can I do to make PH more stable? Thanks

Crushed coral (aragonite) is a great PH buffer, I think baking soda (or was it baking powder? pretty sure baking soda) works as well. I try to avoid using chemicals, but you can buy an chemical buffer as well at most aquarium stores. It is weird you aren't seeing a change in your fish with that big of a PH drop. I would sort that out, try to make sure your PH matches as closely to the water out of your tap. Are you able to set up a drip system? That will fix the problem and add many more benefits to your system.

Well...sure, I know how the drip system works..., but I have no idea how to do that and who will be able to help me with that.. The main thing is !!why!! the PH drop down so quickly... I have one more tank 250x100x55 with 4 Black Diamonds about 35cm big and it is happening too...and now I want to build one more tank .. same size...but the PH really piss me of..

Yes, every tank is filtered separately over big sump system...inside the sump I have normal filtration materials like bioballs, pads, sera siporax ...

Your tap water must be soft? You need to add something to your sumps to stabalise your PH such as crushed coral.

Ok, I can try add crushed coral to the sump..do u think that 20-25kg will be enough ?
I have no idea, sorry. I have no experience of this as the tap water where i live is very hard so PH does not fluctuate. I would wait for others who have experience of softer water to chime in. I know there are people who need to add things to keep PH stable

Not sure about crush coral.. but I do put lots of coral chips in my sump tank.

1500L tank.. coral chips 10-12 Kg approximately. PH has been hovering around 6.8-7.3 for the last 2 months. 4 matured rays 15-17". Once a day feeding.

Thanks buddy, I ordered crushed coral 25 kg so will try put half of it to the sump and hopefully PH will be more stable ..
