so i was courious and checked tap PH 7.4-7.6

what makes it go up so much ????????

sorry if this is a dumb question but i had to ask

Certain types of sand or gravel can elevate the pH. For example, certain brands of "playsand" are notorious for this. You can nail this down by setting up two small containers of water...one without substrate and one with. Let them sit for a few days and then take pH readings.
