So i've got medium hard water here and ph out of the tap is about 7.6-7.7 so in return the tank is at that. I have some peat moss at my disposal and can't really find a recent guide on how to use peat moss to lower ph. I would like it a little lower than 7.7 so does anyone know how to put peat in a filter to lower the ph a bit?

i agree with xaznkewlguyx...just buy driftwood...its much more natural. And if you soak it long enough you don't have to get that brown tint of tannins from the peat moss and or the driftwood. Also I would best stay personally away from those chemical PH lowering bottoms or packets...its not natural and you don't know if it did it job or if it was effective enough to lower the tanks PH...(just wanted to let you know) =] oh but if you still want to do peat moss...get a filter sack and place them all in the sack and then close it and place it when you would for the media

just buy a carbon pouch/bag.... and stuff the peat moss in it.... do a quck rinse of it.... and then place in filter... or tank.... thats if you want to use peat...
