ph ?

I keep my L-24 and L-25 in a 90 with my haps. No promblems. The trick is to keep the ph stable. Good old Detriot tapwater is 7.8 and both my haps(Africans) and my L-24 L-25 (South Americans) are fine in this water. Most Africans are tank raised and used to tap water. The trick is to leave your ph steady not bumping it up and down. I have had Africans breed in soft acidic water. The pseudacanthicas will not breed in anything IMO. LOL

Ancistrus species are best for an african cichlid tank. Although, commons, gibbies and a few others will tolerate a higher PH.
Any pleco will do fine in this pH.

Leporcanthius and ancanthius species do good in cichlid tanks as they seem to have thicker plating, and much more resistant to agression.
They have no more than most other plecos, they are just larger. Any large pleco will work.
