I live just outside of philly and I'm searching for a better quality LFS than the one I have. I regularly visit Pets Natural Plus formerly Captian Nemos Aquarium store but I just can't do it anymore. Prices are just unrealistic there and fish stock rarely changes. The only benefit Of this place is the SW section but even there I'm paying a little more. A good example is filters. They sell an Aquatop CF-400UV for around $179.99. I bought mine off Amazon for under $100.00 on sale from $129.99 its normal price. I have also tried two monster pets in philly one on 59th st and South Colombus boulevard. Both have great stock but the fish that I normally want for whatever reason are never up for sale. Just looking to see if there are any other places in the philly area whether it be in PA or Jersey. Thanks

Where you K krichardson !?? :D
I'm here Rock!.....within the city limits the two Monster Pets locations are about all that is worth mentioning as the other stores are the big box pet stores. There was a cool shop called Giant Aquarium but the owner shut it down and is planning to re open in another part of the city.Just outside of the city to the north there is Fish Factory and The Hidden Reef;both are strictly aquarium shops, they both deal in salt and freshwater and usually have a decent selection of fish.

Giant Aquarium has moved. Does anyone know where is the new location of Giant Aquairum?

Luckily my girlfriend lives in Lancaster and I frequently go to That Pet Place but their livestock isn't anything to write home about. I will have to give the Fish Factory and hidden reef a shot. Thanks for the suggestions I'll have to give them a look

I don't know who is charge of ordering the fish there but their selection is not what it used to be.A couple years ago they used to regularly carry some pretty rare and interesting fish but after the past few visits I've come to the conclusion that it is not worth the waste of gas and time for me to drive out there.

Hidden Reef has some good stuff usually. I agree Nemos is a rip off ever since it changed. The only cool part is that Jimbo from World Wide in Upper Darby works there now. I go to That Pet Place but the stock has been pretty static for the past few months.

Seems That Pet Place is geared towards peaceful community setups with a decent selection of barbs, tetras, community fish. They do have your standard cichlids but I have noticed their systems get ick quite often more often than I've seen anywhere else. I do think they have a nice saltwater selection. I really wish Nemos was like how it was when I first began keeping fish. Store was awesome great fish stock and supplies. Sometimes the place drives me nuts like dension barbs for $24.99 a pop or blue rams $17.99 I mean its stuff like that where it drives me to have to go to a Petsmart for the same price I can get 2-3 of the same fish. Possibly Friday I'm going to stop at those shops Krichardson suggested I appreciate it man. You wouldnt happen to know where to get any decent flowerhorn would you?

Yes,Nemos was a great place when it first opened;awesome selection, great store layout...I knew one of the managers that used to be there but then they joined the Pets Plus chain and tried to mimic the big box stores...Its great to learn that good old Jim Hall from the Upper Darby World Wide Aquarium store is there now.Great guy that I learned a lot from back in the day.....Oddly enough, the last time I was at Nemos they had quite a few nice young Flowerhorns.
