As part of my Practical Philosophical Applications discourse (kind of like a class, but more like a 1-on-1 with a professor where you meet once a week and just talk... best thing I've ever done) I have to create a Philosophy Blog to log thoughts and mental exercises. The blog I created will be aimed at spreading philosophical thought to people who otherwise couldn't care less about this mindset.

The Philosophical Life

Bookmark it, Read it, Memorize it, Love it. This is just a semester long requirement, but I will probably keep it up after that seeing as philosophers are just catching on to the blog world and it's all the rage. I will post links to other philosophy blogs (it's common practice, kind of like a mix between social networking and approving ideas).

Thanks a lot! For me there is really no higher good in life than thought and valued application of it. I think as a society we are no longer very introspective and only wish to do something small to cure it. Anytime you want to muse on the facts of life [whoo, I'm a nerd], hit me up and we'll debate! That goes for anyone on here!

On another note, I published my first post in accord with a discussion i had with my professor today. Go check it out!

Raises some very interesting points that could in theory be extended to other facets as well. Will definitely keep up with this one, thanks.

What style of philosophy do you focus on? I guess what I mean by this are the Hegel, Hieddegar, Sarte's etc etc categories.

My categories of knowledge are:

Philosophy Of Language
-H.P. Grice (I'm doing my thesis on the Gricean Maxims of Conversational Implicature... I will post it on the blog)
-I also like the works of Gotlobb Frege, Saul Kripke, and Bertrand Russel (that's right, he did more than Phil of Religion!)

Ethics-
My knowledge and interest is primarily in utilitarianism (not historical, but contemporary like Peter Singer), but I like to study most all normative ethical theory.

Greek to Medieval Philosophical History- Primarily Greek, but I have done some stuff with people like Descartes, Augustin, and Locke

I tend to keep my personal study in the field of Ethics, as that's what interests me most but I'm most learned on Phil of Language. My personal Reading Choices are Hedegger, Kant (mostly Critik of Judgement and Critik of Pure Reason), and I also enjoy finding unsound arguments in Bertrand Russell's Phil of Relgion... stick to what you're good at!
