photo editing software?????

Whats the best photo editing software that is FREE?


I am currently downloading photoshop 6.0<~~~~~ is this the latest photoshop version?



Wifey has several pics she has taken that needs touching up so we can make post cards/holiday cards. The only editing software that came with my computer sucks. It will only let you adjust the entire photo like shadowing, brightness, etc. We're needing something that will erase/coverup objects that are not wanted in the picture.

I like Gimp 2 I use it for GIFs and Ads. Pretty easy to use. Rated top of the free ones.

That's not the latest version of photoshop. There have been many since 6. They are up to CS4 now. That's the one I use. For vid editing, use Adobe Premier pro CS4.
Try and find the whole CS4 package. It has some good stuff.

Downloading GIMP 2.6.4 right now.

Ramrod, I went to adobe's site and that software is EXPENSIVE!!!!! Never knew that stuff cost that much. They did have a trial version but not sure how long it lasts.
