How is Luther doing?

I love this fish. Yeah he is handsome and all that but just watching him interact with Theo and swim up to me when I approach.
Wagging his tail and making waves at the top.
He is very active but sometimes rests on the bottom behind the plants. He has done this since he was young but does it a bit more I think now.
But for a fish that does not eat much he is really active. Swimming about. Nudging Theo.

Anyway, he is about the same. He flashed about 4 days ago. Scraped near his eye and a bit on gill plate. Looks like he bumped his head a bit a day ago (very small abrasion) . All this stuff is healing and other than that he acts pretty normal.
Pits he had are almost gone.
Same routine for him as far as eating. Comes during feeding but will not hit the top. Theo acts like the old Luther. Goes absolutely bonkers during feeding but only hits krill. I leave krill and some sticks at the top now. Don't know that the sticks are getting eaten though.

I try to watch the feeding habits with a remote camera but have not seen Luther tough anything. Threw some Tilapia in yesterday and nothing.
He sometimes mouths food but that's it. So I will be getting some feeders for him today. Turning into weekly thing. I hate it really. I have no interest in watching fish eat feeders. But he is so lean. Need to get some protein in him.

A day ago after their lights went out Theo charged and attacked Luther. She has done that before. Big mistake. Luther lets her have it and chases her to a corner in the tank. Just like he used to do back in the day when I had to split them up for a bit.
But afterwards he comes back to her and gently mouths her. And all is back to normal. But Luther is still the boss (big man).

He ate 3 feeders with vitachem today. Getting his appetite back. Actually beat Theo to a feeder. Good sign.

The only thing I can honestly think of is the removal of the Oscars may have curved his appetite as a “lack of competition” ordeal. When I removed my crassipinnis it changed my bass appetite until I added some widebar silver dollars in their place, then it was game on again. Now they don’t need them but I feel it makes them more comfortable

No. It’s not that. This started last summer (not eating and being picky)and after I moved fish into this new tank in November he ate twice then quit.
The oscars had also tapered down on eating since summer. At times maybe once every 2 weeks they would fight. Lots of Gill flaring in between. This in the last month or so.
Removed the Gill flarer and then the remaining one wanted to dominate the tank.

Luther has some malady. I just can’t get a handle on it.

I have thought of adding dithers but tank is so peaceful now. He sees Theo eat. Hopefully he gets better.

Looks like the ray photo is going to win. It's a handsome ray but the reflection in the photo detracts a bit I think (for a "best" photo). The arowana photo is actually the most "professional" but I do like the shadowing on Luther. Plus he's interfacing with my wife which I think is cool.
