Finally shook off the lazy and got the Nikon D3000 out. Shot all three tanks and got some decent shots. I didn't spend as much time on the tanks as I usually do but still ended up with some ok ones.

First up is the 125g. Geophagus sp Red head Tapajos. These guys are just over a year in my tank. Not a whole lot of growth overall, each one has probably put on a max of 1.5 inches since I've had them. Their growth seem particularly slow in my case. I've read up on others experiences and all seem to have much better growth than I am getting. They appear healthy and eat until they bellies are round, but just slow growing.

Krobia xinguensis 'orange'. These guys have come on strong since I removed the Aequidens metae. They are frequently in breeding dress and I wouldn't be too surprised to see eggs from them in the coming months. Very happy with how these guys are maturing.

Female?

Male

Next up is the 46g. Just the angels left in this tank. I removed the Keyholes in an attempt to let them spawn and raise fry in a tank to themselves. That was interrupted quickly after I acquired the H. carpintis 'chairel' from Rapps. Anyway, angels continue to do well.

And lastly the new recruits. Herichthys carpintis 'Chairel'. I don't actually know what generation these guys are - Rapps told me personally that he doesn't believe that F2 fish are even available. Which means these are F3 or farther out. Either way I'm excited to see what they become. Already eating flake and pellet food eagerly. Fat bellies after every feeding. Active and a few even flare at each other once in a while. Looking forward to see them grow.

PS - I have been accused of photoshopping my pics to add intense coloration to my pics on other boards. For the record, no photo editing was used to enhance these pictures in any way. I did not change the color hue, the saturation, the contrast. I didn't add any effects. I didn't even crop the photos, lol. You are seeing what I'm seeing.

photos look great - photoshopping is fine too...but if the colour intensity is bothering you, you could always do a little adjustment in-camera to desaturate.

Thanks. Color doesn't bother me. I just don't want others to have heightened expectations of a fish they might acquire and then be disappointed because all of the pics on the web are enhanced. I don't mind seeing others pics touched up - in fact sometimes the post processing is a bit like artwork and I admire it just as much as the shot itself. But I probably won't get into that much myself, just my personal opinion on the matter.

Most people don't understand that simply taking a shot directly from the camera is not accurate. To me white balance is the most important thing to accurately depict colors. A properly post processed photograph is the proper way to do things when you are not just point and shooting.

Anyways those xingus are an odd looking bunch I haven't came across them before!
