alright so i have a nikon d3000 with the stock 18-55mm vr lens and been wanting to upgrade to a better lens. so far i have looked at the nikon 70-300mm vr telephoto lens, the tamron 70-300mm Di LD macro/telephoto lens and the sigma 70-300mm apo dg lens. out of the three im really liking the sigma because of the price and 99% good reviews. seems like the bad reviews came from those who got a bad lens or from a bad dealer. so the question for all you camera guys, which one would be the best one to get? or is there a better one to buy?

(of course the nikon lens would be the best choice, but my budget is pretty low, so thats why im leaning more towards the sigma.)

I am a Canon girl but I have the Canon 75-300 and it is a handy little lens to use.
I know Sigma has a good reputation and they have never disappointed me with quality or price.
Maybe go to your local camera store (if you have one) and ask if you can try them out for yourself. My camera store will rent lenses by the day so maybe you could inquire about that and take them out shooting.

I like the Nikkor 35mm f/1.8. It was only $200, and is much sharper than both my 18-55 and 55-200 lenses. Since I got it a few months ago, for the most part, it's been the only lens I've used (except when I need the extra length of the 55-200, which isn't very often).
