Hi all,

Thanks to all the great plans and photos you folks posted, my husband and I put together a nice DIY stand for my new 210 gal tank.

Here's a shot of the tank:

And stand:

The entire stand has been varnished with Spar Varnish (3 coats) and was put together with pocket hole joinery on everything except for the face screwed boards on the insides of the legs.

One of the pocket hole joints:

There's a shelf that's going to be added to the bottom, after which I will add a 55 gal DIY sump. :)

Once that's done, the entire stand is going to be skinned. The end results will be a maple mission style stand.

Nice!! It's similar to the one I just built but not quite.
That will give you a nice long life stand.

Feels great knowing you saved $100's doesn't it?

nice, gonna start planning a new one for my 300. are the corners 4 2x4's? trying to get the best idea, any tips?

you gonna wrap it in plywood??? or anything???

Absolutely! The most expensive part of the stand was the spar varnish! :grinno:

Yes, all of the legs are doubled 2x4s. So, you end up with 4 2x4s in each corner. I'd definitely go this route rather than using 4x4s...they can be rather squirmy, and good luck finding any that are remotely straight.

Yup, as I mentioned, the whole thing will be skinned to look like a piece of mission style furniture. There will be three doors on the front, and one door on each end, so no plywood. It'll be cheaper and easier to skin the stand with hard wood, since I'd be wasting a ton of plywood with this setup.

The rail and style doors will have a 1/4" hardwood plywood insert.
