I am seeing some awsome pics on this website, my question is why cant i take pics like that, we have a nice digital camera but i can seem to take a nice pic. am i doing something wrong? does anyone have any suggestions for me on lighting or what i can do to get great pics like the photo's i see on this site. I would love to post pics of the many fish i own but i dont want to put ugly pics up like i did when i asked about the sex of my jaguar. any help would be great.

Thanks!

Angle the camera slightly down so it gets rid of the flash. What I do is turn all the lights of in the room so it's dark and take the pics that way.

A regular point-n-shoot digital camera won't really give you the best results. Those amazing pics you see here are usually taken with a DSLR camera, and wireless overhead flash lighting. It all comes down to light. Add some extra light fixtures on your tank, and you'll see the pics improve.

These are some of my photos :)

Do what she said and I also usually have to increase my shutter speed.

Holy Crap Jose, Beautiful Pictures!

as Jose mentioned overhead flash is the best way to go, but you can take good shots with the tank lights. discus, angals, and other slow moving fish are far easier than tetras or danios. raising your shutter speed won't help unless you can open up your lens or raise the iso. you did'nt mention what camera you are using. point and shoots are hard as they usually have shutter lag and won't take off camera flash. just remember that no matter what camera you use, if you want pics like Jose or some of the other great photos you'll have to have an understanding of photography.
here is a simple setup with 2 remote flashes that is quick to set up. in a smaller tank one flash will be enough. the tank in this photo was not taken with the flash. just wanted to show the setup.
