this is my plexiglass 55gal cichlid tank, im happy with it but have a question. in the 2nd pic what type of cichlid is that, it used to be a real pretty blue and grey striped fish??? it gradually changed within the last 3 months and is realy friendly in the idea as you see in the pic it will come out to see me and just chill. Also what sex is it?? THANKS hope you like the tank!

probably a Kenyi Male. Females are purple/blue with stripes, males get yellow. also i think saulosi have a color change with them also. could be either or! Others can elaborate for me.

Probably a kenyi.

BTW, saulosi have an opposite color scheme (they start out yellowish and the males become blue-black striped as they mature).

Very nice tank and yes the fish is a male Metraclima. lombardoi "Kenyi" If you are going to add M. lombardoi females I suggest 3-4 females beacause the males can be very aggressive.

yup ive liked these african cichlids and read into their care for about 3 years, im getting the hang of it. i just sold my aurotus cichlid *spelling* he was a little hell raising basterd, was about 6inches and healthy i had him for a lil over 3 years but i couldnt add anything with him, he was used to dominating and owning all of that 55 gal tank haha, so i had to take him to the local fish store which he got 5 more fish!! haha thanks for all the help and tips, im looking forward to takin care of these guys and i can tell the electric blue johanni melonchromis (spelling) is a little basterd in the making nippin fins and showing aggression.
