I've had this tank running about 10 months with nothing in it but live rock, I use a protein skimmer, whats the deal with the redish purple dots all over the front of the glass??

Looks like coraline algae? If thats the case then it just means your tank is pretty matured. Its a good thing, just a pain to scrape off the glass

How's the tank look otherwise?? live rock and water look ok, sorry I'm new to this, I'm gonna add fish soon

That's some serious patience! 10 months of no fish.:nilly:

Looks great and very ready. I'd test it to be on the safe side but looks really good

Looks great. Coraline growth is typically a sign of low phosphates, and the fact that their is little to no visible micro-algae means your nitrates are low.

I would still add fish slowly and allow the beneficial bacteria to reach equilibrium.

wow... I don't think I would ever be able to wait 10 months with no fish... tank looks great... empty, but great...

Just get an exacto blade and it will take that stuff right off.

Just make sure when you are done to wash it in freshwater and then dry it off really good otherwise they will rust away like no ones biz.
